Seafood Bisque

I am sure that East Coasters will argue with me that the best chowders, soups and seafood bisque can only be found in New England. I beg to differ and will prove my point beyond a reasonable doubt. California and specifically some of the beach cities down the coast have the greatest seafood chowders, soups and bisques to be found anywhere.
We have to start with perhaps the greatest seafood restaurant in all California and that is The Crab Cooker in Newport Beach. Newport Beach is best known for its wonderful wide sand beaches, volleyball, and bikini clad beauties. This is one of the best surfing areas in the world and has some of the best weather in the country year round. There are posh mansions with yachts moored outside of them in Back Bay harbor.
The Crab Cooker at 2200 Newport Blvd. in Newport Beach has the very best New England style clam chowder this side of Chesapeake Bay. There is usually a long line waiting to get in and you may have to wait a while for a table, but be patient and you will be rewarded. The décor is strictly nautical with lots of memorabilia and fishing pictures on the walls. All the food is brought to you on paper plates and bowls so don’t expect anything fancy. You have to start out with a bowl (cup size) of the red clam chowder. You get a whole plastic container full of breadsticks and little sourdough bread nuggets (delicious and crunchy) that you put into your soup. The menu is not all that extensive but the baked mussels appetizer is great and worth getting. The fresh fish can be ordered on skewers as well as the shrimp and comes accompanied by cheddar cheese mashed potatoes with a crispy bottom crust from where they cook it on the skillet. Yum. Of course they also have crab and lobster. This is one fantastic place. Do yourself a huge favor and get there as soon as you can.

Your Own Boat

The first thing you should know when choosing a boat
is that no single boat will do everything. If your
looking for a boat that inspires confidence, don’t
expect it to shine in light air. Boats that are
exciting to sail on the weekends aren’t the ideal boats
for a passage through the ocean.
You shouldn’t expect to find quick acceleration and
load carrying capacity together with the same boat.
You can buy a boat now to race or fish, then sail
around later – as you can only do one or the other
with a specific type of boat.
The logic to choosing the right boat is determining
how you plan to use the boat. Think about why you
want to own a boat, what you plan to do with it, and
how you plan on using it.

Fly Fishing Trips

When I was growing up in rural Minnesota back in the mid-1980′s, there wasn’t much to do during the long, hot summers except swim and fish. I would head out to a lake or river with my brother and a couple of friends right after breakfast almost every single day. We had our poles, bait, and lunchboxes, so we didn’t have to return until dinnertime. Amazingly, we never got tired of this daily routine, and kept it up all the way through our school years. Even now as an adult, I still get together with the same group of friends for fly fishing trips every once in a while.
We’ve been going on fly fishing trips together for over a decade now, and we always try to go someplace different. Fortunately, there are plenty of hot spots right here in the United States, so it’s not that difficult to come up with a new destination. In fact, that task usually falls to me. I don’t mind it one bit, as finding and booking fly fishing trips online is a piece of cake.
There are lots of good websites chock-full of suggested vacations for people who love outdoor adventure. Many of these sites are specifically dedicated to helping folks plan fly fishing trips, and I have to say that they’re terrific! They’ve allowed me to organize amazing outings to places like Wyoming, where my group has fished for trout in the Snake River, the North Platte, and the Yellowstone. We’ve also been to scenic areas in Montana, Idaho, Arizona, and Georgia.

Fly fishing is a kind of fishing which incorporates the usage of a fake fly in order to attract a fish. The fishing poles which are used are usually made of a light carbon fiber and feature lines that are a lot heavier and larger than normal ones. The “flies” are created and produced to look like little insects and other creatures that fish might find appetizing. The pastime can be accomplished in both salt and fresh bodies of water and can be followed back to the 2nd century.
