Alaska Fishing Guide

Before I took my vacation up to Alaska, if a little understanding of how large Alaska was, and how remote some of its destinations. My Alaska fishing guide told me a fact that is common knowledge to many, but that had eluded me up to that point: Alaska is so large that if it were divided into two equal parts, Texas would have the rare honor of being the third largest state in the country. It truly is the last frontier out there, although the native Alaskans will grimace when you say such a thing to their faces.
Along with its largeness, and its remoteness, Alaska is wild and sparsely populated. This is what makes Alaska fishing and hunting so attractive to some many people. Alaska fishing lodges are some of the most isolated in the world, and along with that have some of the best fishing. Most Alaska fishing guides are knowledgeable - you need to be knowledgeable to survive in such a brutal and isolated environment.
Our Alaska fishing guide was a gruff old fellow. He had not set out to be an Alaska fishing guide originally, but then again few do. Generally, your Alaska fishing guide will fit into one of two types. Either he is some young adventurer who's traveled all over the world, and found Alaska to be the only place harsh enough, isolated enough, and beautiful enough for him to finally settle in, or he is a native. It is native to Alaska, he is likely to be a man of few words; strong and independent, and with a quiet but hilarious sense of humor. Our Alaskan fishing guide was of the former type.
Mike was the name of the Alaska fishing guide, a plain name for a man who was anything but plain. Before settling into his current role as an Alaska fishing guide he had been, in no particular order, a Mountaineer, a translator, and an attaché to several American consulates. He even spent some time as a firefighter. But of all these jobs, he said, his job as an Alaska fishing guide suited him to a tee. You get to spend all of his time in the great outdoors, showing some of the most beautiful, pristine, and undisturbed wilderness in the world to travelers from all over who loves nature almost as much as he did. Although his job as an Alaska fishing guide meant that he had a tough life, it seemed to be worth it for him.
Does anyone know of fantastic places to stay for fishing in Alaska?
I am planing on traveling to Alaska next year with me and my Father, he isn't getting any older. He still walks the rivers, and has all the enthuciasms, i just want for him to be able to see the wonderful Alaska and it rivers with me once. Any Ideas
Boy that's a pretty broad question what with AK., havin' all sorts of fishin' lodging and guides. First one that comes ta' my mind is Yakatut (South Eastern Alaska) it is one of the best for fishin' Salmon and Steelhead and that'd be on the Situk River. Fished it and lived there, so I have first hand knowledge ; )...
You'll be seein' beautiful country (whole state is that way) and it's hike-able. For wildlife there be Brown Bear, Moose (Yakatut is known for them), Sitka Deer, along with waterfowl annnnd we cannot forget the Bald Eagles. One of these days the MS's and I are goin' ta' get our tails back up there and say a'dios to the "Lower 48". Whatever your decision on location is, I guarantee you and your Dad** will love it

Ya' mentioned that your Father ain't gettin' no older? I think your just so excited about the trip that ya' made a simple typin' error
Have a good trip...

“I am a man of few words, but many riddles"
With summer vacation almost here, I decided to start looking for a unique place to travel. Tired of the usual beach vacations, my husband and I decided that we would like to go somewhere new this year.
Not wanting to get our passports renewed, we wanted to stay in the US. And so our search began. Limiting our search to something we have never done before, we decided that we wanted to go make the outdoors a focus on this trip. Not the usual outdoors buffs, with any hiking experience or anything under our belt, we decided that a nature cruise type vacation was just what we needed.
We decided to go for an Alaska cruise. I researched a ton of boat companies in Alaska and we were set.
The company we chose is known for its alaska fishing trips, and after visiting, we know why. The scenery is stunning, and you will see a variety of wildlife, glaciers, and other things not found elsewhere in the US.
For anyone wanting to vacation somewhere unique this year, I highly recommend an Alaskan cruise. You truly won't regret it.
Most of the time, that's a good thing; lots of people talk too much. If you are a man of few words, then chances are that when you DO talk, people will listen.
You're thinking way too much into it. People who want someone with a great sense of humor basically want someone who can make them laugh.

Ryan is a man of few words, but it’s nice to see his confidence building. This match should be grrrr8. If Nick just judges from their first fight, he has a surprise coming. Thanks, guys! FIGHT ON!
Hi Victoria,
I really enjoyed your post; came across it in a Google newsfeed that I get which aggregates news and posts about Bristol Bay and sends it to my Inbox every morning.
I'm a longtime (former) Bristol bay drifter – mostly an Egegik guy – and I was wondering what kind of Internet service you have in the Ugashik area these days? Who provides, and what kind of up-link do you have? It's been quite a while since I was up there.
Also, would you do me a favor and let your friends know about another source for very motivated and trainable crew applicants? I run a little side business and here is the website URL for it – it's called the Alaska Fishing Jobs Center, and we have LOTS of great applicants, ready to go.
It's completely free for permit holders – completely, forever, no charge. (Strangely enough, the web developer that helps me with the website is a former Ugashik river fish-counter!)
Thanks and have a great season!

Nookin – 6.40pm – like you, I’m deeply saddened to hear of Ballesteros’ death. He was a man of few words, who let his clubs do the talking. In the Masters once, he had a four-putt, and was asked to talk reporters through it at the post-round press conference. His simple analysis was “I mees, I mees, I mees, I make. Next question!”
I don't think being obnoxious and insulting people is attractive. My husband is the opposite, would go out of his way to help someone.
If you need to become a tool to attract a woman she isn't worth attracting.
I admit having a sense of humor is attractive, but not when the joke is going to hurt someone.
