Taking Care Of Your Fishing Equipment
Fishing Equipment

Some men and women think there is nothing more relaxing than an afternoon with a fishing pole and a gentle breeze. There may be something to this, but I tend to be too worked up about what I should do when I get a bite. I guess I just don't have enough experience with it to relax and enjoy it for what it is. My husband, however, takes his fishing very seriously, and he knows now to take care of his fishing equipment so that he does not have to buy new stuff each year when his favorite fish come into season.
If you have a boat as part of your fishing equipment, you may already know how to take care of it. Some simple things that can help is to be sure you put it away when the weather turns cold and you know you won't be using it for a while. Keeping it up off the ground can help, and having the top covered with tarp is always a good idea too. If water sits in the bottom of the boat and thaws and freezes repeatedly, it can do some damage to the material of which the boat is made. This is probably your most expensive piece of fishing equipment, so give it the most attention.
Your rod and reel are important too, as you know, because you can't catch fish without them. You should always be sure to have a rod strong enough for your type of fishing, and you should also have the right strength of fishing wire. You don't want something too heavy for your rod, but if it's too weak, it'll break. This type of fishing equipment is easier to care for, but is also what you may have to keep your eye on the most. Look for cracks and bends in your rods after a time, and replace your fishing line often so it does not snap on you when you need it the most.
Your other fishing equipment probably consists of lures, nets, and some useful tools. These things are pretty self sufficient, though they may need to be cleaned. You can get a lot of scum and weeds on your lures. They may not affect performance in small amounts, but keep them cleaned up when you can. Your net may experience some wear and tear, so get a new one when it appears lines are breaking. Many of the pieces of fishing equipment in your tackle box may seem small, but the price can add up. Take care of your stuff and you'll save in the long run.
Is this good quality fishing equipment?
I am about to invest in some good quality fishing equipment. I have however stumbled across this bundle pack. Surely this equipment can not be of good quality for this price?
2 rods
2 bait runner reels
pod
2 bait alarms

I live in the UK
. I would be very careful £57.95 . ... A Bait runner reel will cost you more than that... And a cheap Bite alarm that won't let you down will cost you £25 . So I'll go through it with you ,basic prices..
Carbon Rod......£60...X 2 ...= £120
Bait Runner.....£70...X 2....= £140
Pod . . . . . .....£20...X 1....= £ 20
Bite alarm ......£25...X 2....= £ 50
Total £330
Whats the catch , remember my friend there's no such thing as a free lunch.
Fishing tackle is a prime example of you get what you pay for,
. Your choice but I think you will be disappointed

He rings up the sale and says, "That will be $23.00."
She asks, "But didn't you say it was $20?"
He says, "Yes ma'am, the rod and reel is $20, the duck call is $3, but I don't think you could use 3 soft shell tacos , a quesidilla and half of a burrito supreme as bait !"

I don't really hear "males and females" more often than "men and women" typically. What contexts are you hearing those terms used more in?
It does kind of take the "human" sound out of it to just refer to males and females, like speaking of the males and females of _____ species…
I don’t understand this fervent objection to Abortion on the right. They fight for life yet they let it dwindle away on the streets, prisons, hospitals, homes etc. People die everyday because they can’t afford insurance or health care. People die everyday because they can’t eat, find shelter, die from exposure. Men and Women are put to death by the State(another issue all by itself). It just baffles me that they fight so hard for single cells, yet not for fully grown human beings.
Kendrick seems to have said everything I was going to say. I'll just add that the Latin word 'humanus' also contains the word 'man' in it but is used to refer to all mankind. Also I don't see anything wrong with using terms like 'chairwoman' or 'policewoman'. That's just evolution of language at work. But I would also like to point out that words do not innately come with meanings. Instead their meanings are lent to them by humans. I don't see words like 'human' or 'Mann' in German or 'fireman' as being sexist simply because they contain the word 'man'. Words get their meanings from humans, not the other way around. That means that anyone at anytime can see these words as sexist simply because they want to. However, the words come with no baggage other than that which we allow ourselves to grant them. It's all a matter of perception. As a technical side note I do not believe that the word 'men' is a suffix rather it is a lexeme of a compound word. It's sort of like the word 'basket' in the compound word 'basketball'.
"After all, it apparently doesn't matter and isn't a big deal that we use "- men" or not: "- men" means both "men and women." If this is so, then "- women" must also mean "men and women" – or has the capability to refer to the universal – as well.".
I tend not to agree with this (though again this could change with time) because of the way the word is used. Though in English we don't have any English gurus we can go to, like they do in Spanish for example, words still have a common meaning. Women refers to only female humans. Men refers to both just men and 'women and men' (i.e. all of humankind) due in part to it's historical origins. So:
If Man —–> (Male) v (Mankind: including both males and females)
If Woman ——-> (Female)
This could change given that languages are constantly evolving even as we speak but for right now this is the way the words are used.
(Cracking knuckles) I am going to make a stab at this one! Or cast may be more appropriate! Hmmmmm, a wise man once told me that a fisherman had to be certain he was fishing in the correct body of water, whether it be the local fishing hole, or a larger body of water in a far away place. Once he was certain of this, half the battle was won. But fish are a spectacular, but peculiar species.
Some prefer the more expensive equipment, Shimano over Daiwa, the experienced fisherman….others the Leeda pole of the less experienced fisherman who plays part-time over a few cold ones ona good day. But fish are strange creatures. No matter what the bait, no matter what skilled rod and reel, the fisherman never really knows if he will ever get a bite. Will it be a nibble, or will that fish take it hook, line, and sinker?
But trying to see from a fish's point of view….from the mouth of Mahatma Gandhi (In all his infinite wisdom) “To lose patience, is to lose the battle”
Is the statement of belief–shahadah–written and did a group of religious individuals write it?
I couldn't say exactly when the shahadah first came about; almost certainly during the lifetime of Muhammad (pbuh). The shahadah consists of two statements: “No god but God” and “Muhammad (pbuh) is the Prophet of Allah (swt).” Certainly both statements were in usage during the lifetime of the Prophet (pbuh).
As one is living to be a better Muslim what are the qualities that the faith aspires too?
For example: In a Christian’s life…to become a better Christian is walk as Jesus Christ walked; The Bible has the directions which admittedly are hard to understand and EVERY Christian needs a person to assist them with God’s Words (The Bible).
For Muslims then is the Qu’ran (Koran) the roadmap or instructions?
Both the Qur'an and the Sunnah. You say that to become a better Christian is to walk as Jesus Christ (pbuh) walked. That is the goal of Muslims as well, through the use of the Sunnah, which provides the example of Muhammad (pbuh). The Qur'an provides some but not all instructions, but what it does provide are with regard to the most important areas of instruction.
As for “qualities” that Muslims aspire to, this verse from the Qur'an might suffice:
“For Muslim men and women,- for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in Charity, for men and women who fast (and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah's praise,- for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward.” (33:35)
